Stand out with your stories
The legend of Tarzan. I’ve heard it more than 100 times, this story. I’ve read it. I’ve seen it in cartoons and last week I went to see the new movie. Legend of Tarzan. The phrase itself says Legend. A story, sometimes historic and sometimes not. But still a story. But the movie was made in such a way, where it amazed me and made me believe it completely. It flashed again and again in my mind that there was someone named Tarzan who could really talk lion language and ride on wild bulls.
David Yates, he’s the man. He made us believe it. Just like he did with Harry Potter and his adventures. Atta boy, that’s what it’s all about. Whenever you tell a story you want people to believe in you. You want them to live inside your story, see it themselves. Imagine what’s impossible. Only stories can do it, and they still do. Especially when you’re reading it gives you the freedom to create the surroundings in your mind.
When I tell you, you want your audience to believe in you, whoever you’re if you’ve at least told a story in your life, you know it’s not that easy. It’s an art, art of deceiving human subconscious. The reality is created by thought projection into the physical grid. Likewise, there is something like mental projection where your mind creates it all. The extreme of this art is known as astral projection. Though we’re talking stories, our mind does play an important role in the realization of stories.
We always hear a picture’s worth 60,000 words. We live in a visual world and it’s true. Visual marketing is older than cave drawings. But why? It’s a matter of processing power of your brain. We ourselves and our brain always pick the easiest path and speedy one.
In the race, text won’t match up with images. It starts from the birth itself, the baby recognizes its mother with an image, though it won’t understand a word said. That said images are 93% faster than text processing in our brain. This is nothing new, and the images dominate in every context.
When it comes to marketing, Facebook, Twitter and most of the social media gives in more traction for images more than a text post. You know what, that’s half algorithm and half audience. The audience is tentative to react to the post with visual content. Why do we use images or what is the science behind it?
Simple, belief. As I said earlier, I was really made believe that Tarzan is a real story when I saw the movie. When I saw it visually. That’s what makes it different. Even though we read more stories, it’s life inside our head. When it’s visual we believe more. You want proof?
Which one is more believable? Even the right one with text only has more colors and attractive typography, when we see the image of alloy wheels we believe it more than the other. It’s obvious, but unnoticed.
When you’re selling products or services, this is how you increase believability. Research says, it only takes 13 milliseconds to process an image for a human brain. The study research by Aaron J Newman in college students states that regardless the statement was true or false, a statement with an image was more believed than one without an image.
Why do you think all the landing pages in the web start with an image?
Why do you think websites have images of people are present beside the testimonials? Why do you think, you’re usually attracted to those trash magazines with more random images on the cover page?
Why do you think every blog post has cover images, which may or may not relate to the post at all? Now it all makes sense right!! Just like I used some random image for this blog post. Above all why do you think people are attracted to Instagram?
Visual contents are vitally important for your stories, to make it more believable. Whatever your aim is, to make it more believable.
